Dadaab MCA Urges Governor's Immediate Action on Unfulfilled Development Promises for Dadaab Town

Dadaab Ward representative Mohamed Abdi Farah Aboo at the Garissa County assembly has urged prompt action on unfulfilled campaign promises, particularly regarding the spatial plan and survey for Dadaab town in a letter to Governor Nathif Jama on Sunday.

In the letter addressed to the Governor, the three term serving law maker in the county said the promises made during the campaign period to prioritize the development of Dadaab Ward.

Dadaab Ward in part of Dadaab Constituency which has 38,185 registered voters who overwhelmingly voted for Mr. Jama.

“We urge you to prioritize the initiation and completion of the spatial plan and survey for Dadaab town without further delay. This will not only demonstrate your commitment to the well-being and prosperity of our community but also uphold the principles of transparency, accountability, and inclusivity in governance,” read part of the statement seen by Garissa Today.

He expressed concerns over the stagnant progress since assuming office and detrimental effects of the absence of such a plan on the community’s sustainable development.

“We call upon you to engage with the residents of Dadaab Ward in a meaningful and participatory manner throughout the planning process, ensuring that their voices and concerns are heard and integrated into the final plan,” he said.

The lack of a clear roadmap for growth and development, the letter pointed out, has led to challenges such as inadequate infrastructure, unplanned urbanization, and limited access to essential services, leaving the community vulnerable to further marginalization and neglect.

Mr. Aboo called upon the Governor to honor the commitments made to the people of Dadaab Ward and prioritize the initiation and completion of the spatial plan and survey without further delay.

Emphasizing the importance of transparency, accountability, and inclusivity in governance, the leader urged meaningful engagement with residents throughout the planning process to ensure their voices and concerns are heard and integrated into the final plan.

“As residents and stakeholders, we stand ready to collaborate with your administration to facilitate the realization of this crucial initiative for the benefit of present and future generations. Our community deserves nothing less than equitable development and inclusive governance.”
