Isiolo County Takes Unified Stand Against Climate Change Challenges

Isiolo County – A gathering at the Isiolo Governor’s Office brought together key stakeholders from various sectors to tackle climate change head-on. 

Isiolo County Secretary Dade Boru, alongside the County Executive Committee (CEC) responsible for Environment, Water, and Sanitation, led this crucial meeting held at the County headquarters. 

Attended by influential figures including County Assembly members, development partners, and stakeholders, the session had a clear focus. One objective stood tall: the amendment of the Isiolo Climate Change Act of 2018. Additionally, discussions revolved around joining forces for ongoing development ventures.

The Deputy Speaker of the Assembly, David Lemantile, and the Majority Leader, Abdirashid Ali, lent their voices to the discourse. Alongside them, Assembly members Wabera MCA Saleo Kiambi, Burat MCA Nicolus Lorote, and Bullapessa MCA David Waithaka actively engaged in the conversations.

Development partners Mercy Corp, LMS, and Mid-p made strong commitments to aid the County Government in combating climate change-induced challenges.


County Secretary Mr. Boru underscored the importance of synchronization and engaging the executive, Assembly, partners, and the public to prevent conflicts during project implementation.

“We need to harmonize activities and engage stakeholders to avoid conflicts during project execution,” Boru emphasized.

The Deputy Speaker echoed the Assembly’s readiness to amend the Isiolo Climate Change Act of 2018, provided it benefits the residents.

Likewise, the Majority Leader conveyed the Assembly’s dedication to collaborate closely for positive change.

Despite the complexities, this gathering marks a significant stride in collective action against climate change impacts. With unity at its core, Isiolo County forges ahead to secure a sustainable and prosperous future for its residents.
