Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua Mourns the Passing of Freedom Fighter Muthoni Kirima

Nairobi – Kenyan Freedom fighter, Field Marshal Muthoni Kirima has passed away.

Field Marshal Muthoni died on Monday night.

Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua expressed his deep sorrow today as he mourned the passing of a true freedom fighter and Mau Mau heroine, Field Marshall Muthoni Kirima. 

“She was a symbol of unwavering courage and resilience in the struggle for Kenya’s independence,” said Mr. Gachagua. 

Field Marshall Muthoni Kirima, whose remarkable journey in the fight for freedom earned her the nickname “Mother Field Marshall,” had a significant role in the Mt. Kenya and Aberdare forests alongside Field Marshall Dedan Kimathi Wachiuri in the quest to rid Kenya of colonial rule.

Deputy President Gachagua, speaking on behalf of the nation, extended his heartfelt condolences to the family of the late Muthoni Kirima and to all the descendants of the Mau Mau war of Liberation. 

He emphasized the profound loss that Kenya has suffered with her passing.

“We remain indebted to these great heroes and heroines for the sacrifice to liberate our land. May God Rest Her in Eternal peace and give strength to her family to bear the loss,” Deputy President Gachagua concluded, echoing the sentiments of a nation in mourning.

After the capture of freedom hero Dedan Kimathi, she played a pivotal role as his personal assistant in leading the land and freedom army.
