Garissa Governor Emphasizes Professionalism and Value-driven Governance at Masalani Municipal Board Workshop

Garissa – Governor Nathif Jama on Wednesday held an induction training for the members of the Masalani Municipal Board, where he stressed the significance of professionalism and value-oriented governance in running the municipality effectively. 

The workshop, which aimed to equip the board members with essential knowledge and skills, was deemed a resounding success.

Members of the Masalani Municipal Board are: Mohamed Hajir Sheikh,  Ismail Duale Ahmed, Hussein Abdullahi Gedi, Mr. Aden Ali Abdi, Dayib Yare Bashir, Maryam Mohamud Mohamed and Leila Ahmed Abdullahi. 

In a special sitting in June, the County Assembly approved the report of the Committee on the Vetting of the Nominees of Masalani Municipal Board tabled by Khadija Idris, Chair for the Committee on Lands and Physical Planning.

During the workshop, Governor Nathif Jama engaged with the members of the Masalani Municipal Board, dedicating quality time to share important presentations and insights. 

He said the need for professionalism and ethical conduct among the board members will enhance service delivery. 

The training has provided the newly appointed members with a greater understanding of their roles and responsibilities to foster a culture of excellence. 


Governor Jama underscored the need for delivering high-quality services to the residents of Masalani aimed at ensuring transparency, and maintaining accountability.

He stressed that the Masalani Municipal Board plays a crucial role in driving the development and progress of the region. 

“By instilling professionalism and a values-based approach, we will create an environment that fosters innovation, collaboration, and public trust,” said Jama. 

Mr. Nathif said he was confident in the capabilities of the board members and promised total support from the executive them in their operations. 

“There is need for regular training sessions, capacity building programs, and continuous monitoring to ensure the achievement of the municipality’s goals.”

The Municipality has been described as game changer for the people of Masalani making it the second town in the County to achieve the status of a Municipality after Garissa.
