IED attack injures five Police officers escorting Ijara Mp Aspirant Ibrahim Abass

Five Police Officers escorting a convoy of Ijara parliamentary seat aspirant Ibrahim Abaas have on Sunday been injured by a roadside explosion in Ijara, Garissa County.

According to a report from Ijara police station, the officers were escorting the convoy of Ibrahim Abbas, who is eyeing the Ijara MP seat to Hulugho.

“Please be informed that today, 5th June, 2022, Ijara CIPU vehicle GK B624T on escort duties came under IED attack between Ijara and Sangailu area,” read the report.

No one so far has claimed responsibility for the attack.

Somali militants Al-Shabaab , which has links with the Al-Qaeda terror network usually carries out such attacks in along Kenya’s border with Somalia 

The group has besieged the UN- backed Federal Government in Somalia and also harbours territorial ambitions against Kenya.
