March, 26 2022 – Mombasa, Kenya –

Writer, journalist, broadcaster and media strategist Yunis Dekow on Saturday tied the knot in Mombasa to his long-time patner and photojournalist, Naima Abdi.

In an event attended by hundreds, Yunis and Naima were ceremoniously jointed at the hip.

“It’s a great feeling to be married to the love of your life. I look forward to the experience of completing your faith…the ups and the downs of this phase and what it will bring along,” Yunis said after the Islamic Nikkah ceremony, beaming with ecstacy after the event at KPA Sports Club Mbaraki.

The Nikah is a religious ceremony for a Muslim couple to be legally wed under Islamic law.

It’s both a tradition prophet of Mohamed (SAW) and centuries old Somali traditional custom that makes make the event the only permissible way that a man and woman can be married.

The ceremony makes the wedding official because in the Islamic tradition it’s not permissible for a couple to be intimate without a Nikah.

The Nikah legitimizes the relationship in front of relatives and Allah, forming a union rooted in deep love.
