Jubilee’s Dismissal of NADCO Report Raises Concerns, Says Mudavadi

Nairobi – Prime Cabinet Secretary (PCS) Musalia Mudavadi has  encouraged Kenyans to allow the National Assembly to deliberate on the recently unveiled National Dialogue Committee (NADCO) report.

Mudavadi assured that legislators, currently on recess, would address and process the report upon resuming sessions in February next year.

He made the remarks during a thanksgiving ceremony for Devolution PS Teresia Mbaika on Tuesday.

“I urge all Kenyans to respect the new process as the report will be handled and debated by the legislators once they resume duty,” said Mr. Mudavadi.

Expressing concern over Jubilee Party’s dismissal of the report, Mudavadi emphasized the need for respect and questioned the party’s intentions. On the cost of living, he acknowledged the challenges and highlighted government efforts to address the situation, including enhanced rains contributing to increased food production.

“Why is the Jubilee Party dismissing the report? The team does not want to respect the report released by NADCO,” said the Prime Cabinet Secretary.

He added, “the cost of living is high. Let us not lie to one another. However, we will join hands, and in the near future, we shall get relieved.”

As the country awaits the parliamentary debate on the NADCO report, the call for national unity and cooperation echoes. The outcomes of this dialogue process hold the potential to shape Kenya’s future, and PCS Musalia Mudavadi emphasizes the importance of respecting the democratic mechanisms in place.

The National Dialogue Committee (NADCO) released a comprehensive report, co-signed by co-chairs Kalonzo Musyoka and Kimani Ichung’wah, outlining key recommendations post the 2022 Presidential Election.

The report delves into election audits, suggesting restructuring and expanding the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) selection panel. NADCO proposes an expert panel for assessing electoral processes and extending Supreme Court petition timelines.

It advocates state office establishment, including the leader of the opposition and Prime Cabinet Secretary.

The committee addresses the cost of living, recommending measures and constitutional amendments for funds’ inclusion.

The Independent Political Parties Regulatory Commission establishment is suggested for multiparty democracy adherence.
