New Bus Boosts Garissa’s Markaz Umuna Hawa Kosar Centre, President Ruto Pledges Support

Deputy President Gachagua Joins President Ruto at Markaz Umuna Hawa Kosar Centre’s Bus Handover

Nairobi – Markaz Umuna Hawa Kosar Centre in Garissa celebrated a significant milestone on Saturday as it welcomed a new bus to support various institutional activities.

The ceremonial handover took place in the presence of distinguished guests, including Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua and Defense Cabinet Secretary Adam Duale. 

Situated in Garissa County’s Township Constituency, the institution one of many learning centers that relied on his support as Duale served the constituency since 2007. 

Following his nomination to the cabinet after Dr. William Ruto’s Presidential election victory, Duale resigned as a legislator.

CS Duale, reflecting on the occasion, mentioned accompanying the school’s staff and students to meet President William Ruto at State House, Nairobi. 

During this meeting, the President lauded the institution’s dedication to providing both Islamic and secular education, emphasizing its efforts in empowering women. 

President Ruto pledged the government’s unwavering support for such noble ventures.

The President, acknowledging the institution’s dedication to providing both Islamic and secular education while empowering women, commended its noble efforts. 

He assured the school of the government’s support in fostering such commendable initiatives.

“The Government appreciates organisations that support efforts towards bridging the socioeconomic divide in the community through education and the empowerment of the vulnerable,” said President William Ruto. 

“We associate with the Hawa Kosar Madrasa in Garissa County for distinguishing itself as a centre of excellence, fostering a more inclusive, transformed and empowered society,” he added. 

The new bus is expected to play a pivotal role in facilitating the institution’s diverse activities and contributing to its mission of holistic education and empowerment.

In a remarkable journey of growth and impact, the Hawa Kosar Madrasa in Garissa County has defied expectations, evolving from a modest enrollment of 20 students in 2012 to an impressive 627 students in 2023.

The institution has stayed committed to providing both Islamic and secular education, has become a beacon of success in the region. The exponential increase in student numbers is a testament to the dedication and vision of those involved in shaping the Madrasa’s educational landscape.

The institution’s success story gained further recognition during a recent meeting with President William Ruto at State House, Nairobi.

President Ruto, acknowledging the Madrasa’s commitment to education and empowerment, commended its efforts. 

He pledged the government’s support for such noble ventures that contribute to the educational and socio-economic development of communities.
