Police Investigation Underway After PSV Matatus Collide in Bomet County

Bomet – A tragic accident involving two PSV matatus in the Galaxy area of Bomet County has left 16 individuals injured. Emergency response teams swiftly acted, evacuating three casualties to Tenwek Hospital, six to Texas Hospital, and providing first aid to seven by the Kenya Red Cross team.

The incident involved a 14-seater matatu from Egesa Shuttles traveling from Nairobi to Kisii. 

Witnesses reported that the driver, attempting to avoid a head-on collision, veered off the road, leading to the rollover.

Bomet Central Sub County Police Commander Musa Omari confirmed that the injured, including the driver in stable condition, were receiving treatment at Longisa Hospital. The driver’s recovery is awaited for a statement to aid investigations.

Omari commended the public for their rapid response and assistance at the scene. The National Police Service is working to establish the circumstances surrounding the incident and await the driver’s cooperation once discharged.

The Police have cleared the scene, and ongoing efforts aim to understand the events leading to this tragic incident.
