Unity and Charity Beyond Ramadan: A Call for Continued Generosity

Sheikh (Dr) Adan Yunis Ibrahim, the Regional Coordinator for North Eastern of the Supreme Council of Kenya Muslims (SUPKEM) called for unity and ongoing acts of charity beyond the holy month of Ramadan.

Wajir Supreme Council of Kenya Muslims (SUPKEM) and the Wajir County government on Sunday announced they are collaborating to develop a comprehensive preparation that will ensure a successful and safe gathering.

The County government and SUPKEM leadership partnership is aimed at enhancing unity and support within the community in preparation of the observation of the end of Ramadhan.

Preparations for the Eid prayer gathering include logistical arrangements, security measures, and adherence to other protocols.

Eid al-Fitr, often referred to simply as Eid, marks the end of Ramadan, the Islamic holy month of fasting. It’s a joyous occasion celebrated by Muslims worldwide.

The day typically begins with special prayers at specific mosques, followed by gatherings with family and friends. People dress in their finest attire, exchange gifts, and enjoy feasts featuring traditional foods.

Charity is also an integral part of Eid, with the giving of Zakat al-Fitr, a form of almsgiving to help those in need enjoy the festivities.

Eid, expected to be either on Tuesday or Wednesday is a time of gratitude, reflection, and community, bringing people together in celebration of faith and unity.

Dr. Adan Yunis Ibrahim emphasized the importance of unity among Muslims beyond the Eid period, throughout the year.

He highlighted the need for solidarity and cooperation among all members of the Muslim community, regardless of differences, to foster a sense of togetherness and strength.

He urged fellow Muslims to extend the spirit of giving and charity beyond the conclusion of Ramadan.

He underscored that charity is a fundamental pillar of Islam, and its significance should be upheld beyond the confines of the holy month.

“By continuing to support those in need and practicing generosity, Muslims can make a lasting positive impact on their communities and beyond,” he told Garissa Today.

As we approach Eid al-Fitr, Sheikh (Dr) Adan Yunis Ibrahim extends his warmest wishes to all Muslims, praying for joy, peace, and prosperity for everyone.

“I hope this festive occasion will serve as a reminder of the values of compassion, unity, and charity that are integral to Islam,” he added.


Mr. Omar Shanno, the County Chief Officer (CCO) of the municipality, reaffirmed the government’s commitment to facilitating the Eid prayer gathering.

With the festivities drawing near, Mr. Shanno said it was emparative to heighten vigilance, particularly concerning the safety of children on the eve of Eid.

He urged parents and guardians to exercise extra caution and responsibility, ensuring the well-being and security of their young ones during the celebratory period.
