SOHA hosts luncheon for Chief Kadhi, amid calls for collaboration

Nairobi – Calls for collaboration and dialogue in building a harmonious society were the focus of a luncheon hosted by the Isiolo based charitable and humanitarian organization, Star of Hope Association (SOHA), in honor of Chief Kadhi of Kenya, Sheikh Abdulhalim Athman Hussein. 

The event, held on Saturday at the Star of Hope offices in Isiolo, provided a platform for key stakeholders to come together, recognize Chief Kadhi’s contributions, and discuss ways to collaborate effectively.

In their remarks, SOHA officials, led by chairman Dr. Haroon Saeed, congratu- lated Sheikh Abdulhalim Athman Hussein for successfully being appointed as the new Chief Kadhi, taking over from Sheikh Ahmed Muhdhar Hussein, who retired after serving for 12 years. 

They expressed their gratitude for Chief Kadhi’s outstanding leadership and dedication to public service and pledged to work closely with him to foster unity and progress in the Muslim community.

“We encourage you to work towards unity and the common good, and note that any leadership that embraces and unites people regardless of their tribes, divergent views, and affiliations, is a blessing. As the Star of Hope Association, we pledge to work closely with you to foster unity and progress in the Muslim community,” noted SOHA officials.

Dr. Haroon Saeed emphasized the im- portance of collaboration and dialogue in building a harmonious society, stressing that SOHA remains committed to fostering partnerships and supporting initiatives that promote peace, unity, and development.

In his maiden speech, Chief Kadhi Sheikh Abdulhalim praised the Star of Hope Association (SOHA) for their nondiscriminatory activities towards people of different denominations, ethnicities, and affiliations.

He cited numerous pro people projects they have accomplished in various parts of the country over the years, including fixing boreholes, constructing schools, mosques, and health facilities, among other humanitarian services and relief support programs.

Addressing the gathering, Member of Parliament for Imenti North, Abdul Raheem Daud, highlighted Chief Kadhi’s achievements and his valuable role in promoting peace, unity, and development in Kenya. 

He commended Sheikh Abdulhalim’s commitment to serving the community and acknowledged the positive impact he has had on the lives of many.

Religious leaders from the area also took the opportunity to express their appreciation for Chief Kadhi’s efforts in fostering interfaith harmony and promoting religious tolerance. 

They emphasized the importance of religious leaders working together to address societal issues and promote peace. 

In attendance were Qari Abdulrazzaq, SOHA Organizing Secretary, and Sheikh Nazim ud Din, among others.
