Uhuru Urges Ruto to Address the Concerns Raised by Kenyans

𝐍𝐀𝐈𝐑𝐎𝐁𝐈 – Retired President Uhuru Kenyatta has told President William Ruto to deal with real issues facing Kenyans.

Speaking on Friday, Uhuru said that a government is elected to serve its people.

Mr. Kenyatta was reacting to claims that he is behind the financing of the ongoing anti-government protests.

The former President said as much as he is not involved in the demos, Kenyans have a right to carry out their constitutional mandate.

Despite relative calm in Nairobi on Friday, there were clashes in the informal settlements of Kibera and Mathare in the capital, and in the western city of Kisumu.

Opposition leader Raila Odinga called for three days of demonstrations across Kenyan cities against tax hikes and high living costs.

Amnesty International Kenya said police had killed 30 people since cost-of-living protests began in March.

The Media Council of Kenya has criticised the police for posing as journalists to arrest protesters.
