Wajir County Transition: New Leadership Takes the Helm in Trade and Investment Department

Wajir Governor Ahmed Abdullahi Implements Key Restructuring in Government Departments

Wajir – Rahow Ibrahim, the outgoing Chief County Officer (CCO) for Trade and Investment, formally handed over the department’s responsibilities to the incoming Chief Officer, Osman Ahmed Abdi, in a ceremony that echoed promises of continuity and excellence on Saturday. 

The handover, a symbolic gesture of passing the torch, sets the stage for a new chapter in the department’s history. 

“In a move geared towards optimizing service delivery and in accordance with Sections 39 (1) and 45 (5) of the County Governments Act. No. 17 of 2012, the Governor of Wajir County has announced a significant restructuring of key departments, accompanied by strategic deployments of top officials,” read in parts a letter from the office of the county secretary and head of county public service. 

Osman Ahmed Abdi, stepping into his new role, brings with him a wealth of experience and a strategic vision for the future of the department. 

His assumption of duties marks a commitment to sustained excellence in the realms of Information and Communication Technology (ICT), Trade, and Investment.

Governor Ahmed Abdullahi has also made restructuring and deployment of various civil servants to respond to evolving needs and priorities of the community. 

The adjustments, as outlined in an official communication to all County Executive Committee Members and Chief Officers, span critical sectors that directly impact the lives of Wajir County residents.

The changes signify a deliberate effort by the county administration to enhance efficiency, promote specialization, and respond proactively to the diverse challenges facing Wajir County. 

The outgoing CCO, Rahow Ibrahim, expressed confidence in the department’s future under the leadership of Osman Ahmed Abdi. 

“This formal handover symbolizes not just a change in personnel but a commitment to the continued success and growth of our ICT, Trade, and Investment departments. Osman’s leadership will undoubtedly contribute to the strategic development and prosperity of our county,” said Ibrahim.

Osman Ahmed Abdi, in his acceptance speech, expressed gratitude for the trust placed in him and affirmed his commitment to building on the foundation laid by his predecessor. 

“I am honored to take on this responsibility, and I am committed to fostering an environment of innovation, growth, and collaboration within the department. Together, we will navigate the evolving landscape of trade and investment, ensuring our county remains at the forefront of progress,” stated Abdi.

The ceremony was attended by key stakeholders, departmental staff, and local dignitaries who applauded the seamless transition and expressed optimism about the future trajectory of the Trade and Investment department. 

As Osman Ahmed Abdi takes the helm, the county anticipates a period of sustained growth, innovation, and strategic development in the crucial sectors of ICT, Trade, and Investment.

Mr. Suleiman Maow, a governance expert in Wajir expressed confidence that these strategic adjustments would lead to improved service delivery, streamlined operations, and greater responsiveness to the needs of Wajir County residents. 

“The reshuffle is expected to foster a renewed sense of direction and effectiveness in key sectors crucial for the overall development and well-being of the community,” he said. 

“As the newly appointed officials assume their roles, Wajir County anticipates a period of positive transformation and progress under this reinvigorated leadership structure,” he added.
