Wajir Governor Super Cup 2024: A Kickoff for Social Change Through Sport

Wajir – The Governor Super Cup 2024 is set to kickoff next week providing a platform for addressing crucial issues such as drug abuse and radicalization. 

Wajir county Chief Officer Youth Sport and Talent Adenweli Hashi announced the fixture of the four day tournament.

“The playoff fixtures, commencing on February 5, 2024, at Wagberi Primary and Catholic grounds, promise captivating matches,” he said. 

Mr. Hashi said the opening encounter at Wajir Stadium features AlSunni FC against Iftin FC. 

Throughout the week, teams like Heritage FC, Stima FC, AlShabah FC, Hodhan FC, Al Bakar FC, Shaletey FC, Peace United FC, and Alhilal FC will compete, delivering not just football but also addressing societal issues. 

The initiative is part of Wajir’s commitment to fight radicalization, using sports as a dynamic avenue for community engagement and delivering crucial messages to the youth.

The tournament seeks to instill resilience in Wajir youth through the transformative power of football.

The upcoming Super Cup promises thrilling football and will foster resilience against divisive ideologies in the community.
