Garissa Suspends Gypsum Exploitation and Plot Demarcation Amidst Rising Violence

Garissa – Garissa County has taken a decisive step in response to the recent escalation of violence, resulting in six deaths due to inter-clan conflicts. 

In an effort to quell the unrest, Governor Nathif Jama announced the immediate suspension of all gypsum exploitation within the County. 

The ban aims to address the surge in violence, which has tragically claimed a total of 11 lives thus far.

Governor Jama also announced a measure to prohibit plot demarcation activities in and around Garissa town.

This action is aimed at curbing contributing factors to the ongoing violence that has shaken residents of the town.

During a security meeting involving Garissa’s elected leaders and the county security team, Governor Jama emphasized the urgency of finding solutions to halt the escalating violence. 

The efforts by the leaders seek to restore peace and stability to the Town, ensuring the safety and well-being of residents and visitors.
