Governor Khalif Champions Education Equality with Mandera County Bursary Fund 2024

Mandera – Mandera County has inaugurated the Bursary Fund for 2024 to facilitate education accessibility for students in the county. Governor Mohamed Adan Khalif said grants awarded to students has enabled many study secondary education for free and is poised to positively impact overall literacy levels in the region on Saturday. 

He committed continued investment in infrastructure, teaching and learning materials, underlining 118,369 learners have been supported through bursary program from 2016 to 2022. 

The Elimu Kwa Wote initiative, launched in 2023, reached 24,973 students, ensuring financial constraints didn’t hinder their education.

Under the initiative county has been allocating funds to pay for the tuition of all students enrolled in the county’s 61 government secondary schools.

The Ward Bursary Scheme has supported over 12,000 students in higher education with a remarkable Ksh 810M having been allocated to sustain the Elimu Kwa Wote initiative. 

“This financial commitment underscores the paramount importance of education as a top priority of my administration, ensuring that no student is left behind,” he said. 

Governor Khalif commended the strides at Mandera Technical Training Institute, where 382 out of 937 students were sponsored, contributing to the growth of technical skills in the community. The holistic approach ensures students studying outside the county receive inclusive support.

The Mandera County Bursary Programme has benefited 165,648 individuals, “reflects a transformative impact with a budgetary allocation of Ksh 1,392,319,000.” Governor Khalif expressed gratitude for national government scholarships and contributions from corporate entities like KCB Bank, Equity Bank, National Bank, and Cooperative Bank.

Governor Khalif pledged renewed commitment to empower the next generation through education, as well as fostering a community where every student can thrive.

“This approach ensures that every deserving student from Mandera, regardless of their location, receives the support they need.”
