Kenya’s Commitment to Defeating Terrorism Remains Unshaken – Prof. Kindiki 

Wajir East – Interior Cabinet Secretary Kithure Kindiki has extended appreciation to the multi-agency security officers who are tirelessly and diligently combating insecurity in the North Eastern Region and various parts of the country. 

Speaking on Monday, he hailed the officers as true heroes who deserve commendation for their unwavering commitment to maintaining peace and security.

Kindiki who was on visit to Kutulo, Wajir acknowledged the sacrifices made by some officers who have tragically lost their lives, while others have been injured in their line of duty, facing armed criminals. 

He emphasized that no prize is sufficient to honor the dedication and patriotism displayed by these officers.

Prof. Kindiki announced that the government is fully committed to facilitating security officers in carrying out their mandate of safeguarding citizens and their property. 

This commitment includes the provision of modern equipment to enhance their safety and effectiveness in combating increasingly complex security challenges.

The Cabinet Secretary also made it clear that the Government of Kenya unequivocally condemns extrajudicial killings. 

He stressed that such actions are not only illegal but also a violation of the Constitution and other international laws. 

“The days of enforced disappearances are long behind us, emphasizing the government’s commitment to upholding the rule of law,” he added.

Highlighting the ongoing threat of terrorism as a national security concern, Kindiki reiterated the government’s determination to triumph over terror. 

He called upon parents and guardians to remain vigilant and actively counsel their children against radicalization and recruitment into terror groups.

The national government has operationalized Kotulo Sub-County office in a bid to strengthen local governance and administration.  

A new Sub-County Headquarters has been commissioned, and Farah Hassan Mohamed was appointed as the first Deputy County Commissioner. 

“This underscores the government’s commitment to effective governance and service delivery at the grassroots level,” said the Interior Ministry.
