Wajir County Government Invites Open Tenders for Upgrading of Sarif Health Center to Level 4

Wajir – The County Government of Wajir has announced an open tender for the proposed upgrading of Sarif Health Center to Level 4, a move aimed at enhancing healthcare services in the region. This initiative falls under the Department of Medical and Rehabilitative Services, with the objective of improving medical facilities and accessibility for the local population.

The open tender, to be conducted using a standardized tender document under the national open competitive method, invites all qualified and interested tenderers to participate in the bidding process. The project’s details and requirements can be obtained during office hours at the designated address provided by the county government.

Interested parties have been urged to purchase or obtain a complete set of tender documents upon payment of a non-refundable fee, which is free of charge when made in cash or by Banker’s Cheque. 

Additionally, the tender documents can be obtained electronically from the official website of the County Government of Wajir, www.wajir.go.ke, with no associated charges.

Wajir County Government has informed tenderers who choose to download the documents electronically are required to notify the Procurement Entity immediately, providing their full contact details for further communication.

“All tenders should be quoted in Kenyan Shillings and include all applicable taxes. They must also remain valid for 150 days from the date of the tender opening. Tenderers are required to submit a tender security of Kshs. 500,000 in the form of an unconditional bank guarantee issued by banks regulated by the Central Bank of Kenya or a reputable insurance company,” read a Invitation Tender. 

To ensure transparency, the tender documents submitted by each tenderer will be serially numbered, starting with the cover page, in a chronological format.

The deadline for the submission of completed tenders is set for 26th September 2023. The official tender opening will take place immediately after the deadline, in the presence of designated representatives of the tenderers who opt to attend.

After the upgrading Sarif Hospital to level 4, a comprehensive services and specialized staff will be deployed to attend to medical emergencies in the vast Wajir South Sub-County.

Emergency, general and specialised operations will be handled at the facility. 

The facility will also be able to screen for and examines cervical, breast and prostate cancers, vaccination for yellow fever, tetanus, hepatitis B and rabies, management of surgical and medical and advanced life support, management of high-risk pregnancies and obstetric complications, pre-term labour and caesarean sections.

Provides a highly active anti-retroviral therapy (HAART), antiretroviral (ARV) prophylaxis for children born of HIV-positive mothers, male circumcision, pelvic inflammatory disease (PID) management, and screening for animal transmitted conditions will be provided. 

A level 4 facility should be built on five-acre piece of land or an office space of approximately 2,500 square metres.

It must have a 150- bed capacity for inpatient with 30 beds each for male, female, paediatric, antenatal and postnatal wards.

A labour ward with at least three delivery beds and two resuscitating beds will be built while the new-born unit should have at least five incubators and five cots.

Sarif Level 4 Hospital also have at least six beds at the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) with an equivalent bed capacity for the High Dependence Unit (HDU) and radiology.
