Mandera county government said the team has closed down several water collection points that did not meet the required water quality standards.

The officials conducted samples of the Water collection points that failed to meet required water quality standards.

Samples were also collected  for further testing to be carried out  at the public health water quality testing laboratory.

Pollution from industrial, agricultural, or residential activities can introduce harmful substances into water sources, compromising water quality.

Aging or poorly maintained infrastructure can lead to leaks, breaks, or contamination of water during transportation from the source to the collection point.

Natural events like floods, droughts, or erosion can disturb the environment surrounding water sources, affecting water quality.

Inadequate or ineffective water treatment processes at collection points can result in the presence of contaminants or pathogens in the water supply and Insufficient funding or resources for monitoring, testing, and treating water are some of the factors that can lead to a lack of oversight and control over water quality.

Improper waste disposal, illegal dumping, or activities like mining and logging also contributes to water pollution, affecting the quality of water at collection points.
